You may have seen the amazing Amanda Farris over at Flat Track coffee, making glorious shots of coffee to start your day off right. But little did you know she has a secret side project making beautiful jewelry as well! The desire to start making jewelry came from wanting something that was durable and could stand up to her pulling on it all day long...as one does when they are active and working all day! Then her friends started having babies and it was apparent that they needed the same thing as well.
Coming full circle with babies....remember those wood beads on wires in Doctors' offices??? I would play with those so much as a kid. I probably loved the rainbow aspect to them (obvs) but was fascinated with the look and feel of the beads. Well these became her inspiration for the collection. A fidgety puzzle piece for your neck.
Each piece is handmade at home under the watchful eye of her pup, Moshow. The beads are clay and plastic, each hand painted and strung up with either leather or hemp twine. I love that each one is a little different from the next and they have a tangible quality to them. It's a way to connect to the items you wear in a different way other than aesthetically. Touch and feel is also very important. This is why I like these pieces so much.
Take a look at the different varieties we have stocked in the store here! And watch out for her upcoming line of functional home ceramics that she is working on next!!
