Artisanal Palo Santo wood & Breu resin blend
The Bursera graveolens Tree, from the Burseraceae Family, also known as Torchwood or Incense family, naturally produces an aromatic non-allergenic resin that increases in concentration with age. The Holy wood they use comes from trees that have already completed their life cycle and “die” naturally, from 40 to 90 years. Once the tree has fallen, an alchemical process of natural transformation that lasts between 4 and 10 years takes place. Only after that time has past does the wood receives its aromatic and healing properties and is consecrated as "Holy Wood" (Palo Santo).
It is said that the spirits of the palo santo trees materialize in the essential oil and are responsible for its special qualities. The Palo Santo has always been linked to shamanic rituals of different cultures and dates back to the time of the Inca Empire. The Tongue-Maskoy (indigenous people of Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina) have the belief that a fire made with Palo santo wood prevents evil spirits come to the houses. It is used in ceremonies with teacher plants and medicines such as Ayahuasca, both in Europe and in America. It is inspiring to think of the first people who discovered its long lasting torch property and beautiful scent and it is easy to understand how it evolved into a valued and sacred gift.
Extracted from the Almacega tree of the Amazon rainforest, sacred Breu resin (“Breuzinho” or “White Breu”) is used in healing rituals, to ward off evil spirits, and to create good energy. Breu’s aromatic resin is rich in alpha and beta-amyrina triterpenes, which possess anti-inflammatory, analgesic and gastro-protective properties. The resin is indicated for respiratory trouble, stomach ache, liver malfunction, and mental acuity.
